The Teacher
Melanie King
When did you decided to go into teaching?
I discovered that I wanted to combine my love of art and education when I was 18.
Why?
I was inspired by the passion that my teachers held whenever they taught.
What is your experience?
I have worked with children of all backgrounds, abilities, and skills... Between my mother's daycare and volunteering with autistic children
and teens, I have a vast amounts of experience and patience.
What do you like to teach?
My favorite subjects to teach are Ceramics and Art History because those two are my strengths. However, I am comfortable teaching painting and graphic design as well. I also prefer teaching in high school and beyond because I can challenge my students.
Who are your favorite artists?
Frida Khalo, Vincent Van Gogh, William D. Kooning, Jean-Honoré Fragonard, Caravaggio, and Jackson Pollock.
What is a random fact about yourself?
I love animals! I have four cocker spaniels currently, and I would love to adopt more dogs. Eventually I would like to rescue a pit bull, a greyhound, and a dachshund.
My Dogs!
Clover, Julia, Daisy and Ava.
